What is Enhanced Search?

The most significant change in the new search experience is the introduction of a HapPhi’s knowledge graph, which is now the default format for Google search results. A knowledge graph is a visual representation of facts and connections about a specific topic, like a person, place, or thing. The new knowledge graph displays a rich and visual summary of the information about a topic in a vertical layout. It’s also interactive and links to related content, which means that you can click on any part of the card to navigate to a different search result or website. And as you move your cursor around the card, you’ll see that the facts and connections change dynamically. The new knowledge graph is available for searches about people, places, companies, movies, books, music, TV shows, or images.

What is Enhanced Search?

Enhanced search is a set of features that makes your search experience with Google more personalized and helpful. It uses machine learning to understand the user and offer relevant content. Search has become an important part of our online experience; we use it to find information about products, restaurants, hotels, flights, or anything else on the web. Enhanced Search comes with several new features that make it even easier to find what you need on Google — no matter what you’re looking for. With Enhanced Search on Google , you can see related searches that other users typed when they also searched for something unique or interesting. You can also see suggested searches based on your recent browsing history. These suggestions are called “Previous page results” because they appear as suggestions on the previous page of search results rather than as stand-alone recommendations below them.

New Search Interface

The first major change you’ll notice in Enhanced Search is a new Google search interface that fits better with modern design patterns. The design is now cleaner and more spacious, with more room for the actual search results, along with related searches, images, and videos. The new design also takes advantage of larger screens like on laptops or iPads. The new design is better suited to new types of search results, including expanded knowledge graph results and the new menu of actions that enables you to quickly interact with each result. The actions menu lets you do things like zoom in on an image, listen to a song, download an app, watch a TV show, or get directions to a place.

HapPhi’s knowledge graph in enhanced search

Voice Search

Voice search is now available on Google home devices, Android phones and tablets, and the Google app for Android, iOS, and desktop. It’s also more personalized than ever through machine learning. As you use voice search more often, Google will get a better understanding of what you’re looking for and how to deliver better results. You can ask Google questions and control your home, get directions and find out what’s nearby, or get information about just about anything.

Improved automatic translation

Google got a lot better at automatic translation thanks to the neural network that powers Google Translate. This neural network is now also used for translation in Google Images, Google Translate, and Google's automatic captions for videos. When you search for something, a card will appear with information about the subject, and a translation of that information into your language. You can click on the “View image” link to see an image from that search result in full-size. You can also click on the “Translate” link to see a translated version of the information about the image in another language. You can also click on the “Translate this image” link to translate the image itself into another language. You can also click on the “Download” link to download the image in full-size.

Recommendations and Ratings

Now that Google has the knowledge graph, it can also surface facts and images related to products and places, which means that you may also see a card with information related to the product you searched for. For example, if you search for a restaurant, you may see a card that includes the restaurant’s ratings and reviews from other users. You may also see a card with information about the place where the restaurant is located, like the neighborhood or nearby attractions. This functionality is powered by Google’s new knowledge graph, which means that Google can now surface information about specific places or products, instead of just web pages that link to those places or products.

Bottom line

The new search experience is better suited to the new types of information that Google can surface. The new knowledge graph is more visually interesting than a string of links, and it enables Google to display more information on a single card. The new knowledge graph is also more interactive, with hyperlinks that let you explore related content or click through to another website. It’s also easier to navigate thanks to the new actions menu and expanded navigation options, like swiping to go to the next or previous page of results. These changes mean that you can get more information from Google search results, faster, and with less effort.
